Listen Family
Volume No.2
Issue No.17
June 2006

Another month and yet another death in my life. This makes my year a perfect 5 for 5. Two days before my flight back home to Philly to be with my family for my birthday, my mom calls me to tell me that my aunt passed away and instead of the bbq birthday celebrations that was planned for me, we would be driving to North Carolina for a funeral. Happy Birthday to me. Hopefully this will be the last death I will have to deal with this year

because I don't know how much more I can handle. With death brings life. On a positive note, my one time roommate from Philly and OG Love Park Skater and now current San Francisco resident, John Senesy, is the proud father a new baby girl. His wife Christa gave birth to Dylan Rose Senesy on May 28th. Congratulations to both of them and see you guys late this month on our Listen Couch Tour which will be rolling through the bay area later this month.

Mags

I mentioned last month that Brian Brown was about to blow up and I didn't lie. He was all over the newest and latest am issue of Transworld. Brian was lucky enough to be invited to Australia with some of the industry's best ams. Brian Brown was also featured in our latest ads which are running in Thrasher, Skateboarder and The Skateboard Mag.

For our Spanish reading skaters, Danny Montoya has an interview in the summer 2006 issue of Sports Illustrated Latino. I'm going to go ahead and say that this could be the first time ever a pro skater has had an interview in this magazine. Way to go Danny. Check out this issue if you can. Ronaldinho is on the cover because he's going to lead Brazil to yet another World Cup Championship.

Speaking of Brazil, Rodrigo Petersen is in an LRG ad with Kelly Hart, which is featured in the am issue of Transworld.

Flow rider, Gabriel De La Mora, has a check out in the am issue of Transworld. Expect to see and hear more from this ripper from Tijuana in the near future.

Flow rider, Ricky Geiger managed to get his mug in the Phoenix Am article in the new Thrasher. Congratulations Ricky.

Thomas Fontaine, who works for 24/7 distribution in Germany, and who also happened to be our tour guide/driver, as well as a great skater was sporting a Listen Up tee in the shop of the month photo, also in the am issue of Transworld. Thanks Thomas for the Support!

And finally I'm sorry I didn't mention it sooner, but a big shout out goes out to Eastern Skate Supply for always reppin' one of our boards in their ads. This month's ad, also in the am issue of Transworld, features Rob G's board.

Trips/Tours

On May 30th, we did our first ever Listen demo in the state of Wisconsin. This was a great turn out for us and the guys over at Underloud Board Shop did a great job of promoting this event. There were well over 300 hundred kids at this demo which was more skaters than I thought existed is the small city of Eau Claire. Check www.underloud.com for some video from the demo or check our site. Our video footage will be up shortly.

Catch Danny Montoya on the Adio/Zumiez tour which will be hitting the cities of Phoenix, Salt Lake City and Denver from June 7-12. More info on this tour and the Adio Backyard BBQ at Journeys, which Danny will also be at on June 17th in Nashville Tennessee, can be found at www.adiofootwear.com

The Listen Skateboards Couch Tour will be happening in the Western and Rocky Mountain States from June 24-July 19. Cities and Dates will be announced soon, so Listen Up for it and make it out to one of the demos to be apart of the tour video which will be made from this trip

Contests

I'll start with the good results first. Jamiel Nowparvar almost succeeded at defending his title of O.U.T. Champion but came up one letter short and wound up runner up or first place loser or second place, which ever you choose.

Now to the one where we blew it, Damn Am. Donnie Mitchell pulled off 101st. I don't know what happened, because he killed it during practice.

Nate Fantasia locked up 94th. He too killed during practice and almost pulled off a banger during best trick that even Brain Schaffer was willing to throw down an extra $100 from his own pocket to see Nate throw down.

Jamiel Nowparvar, the local that should have had the contest in the bag, also blew it during his run and secured himself a spot at 64th.

But nothing hurts more than missing the cut by one person as Ryan Dodge managed to do by getting 31st. The only award we did receive was one for myself, for bringing the team and nobody making the cut, and for looking like Bryant Gumble.

Videos

Brian Brown shines in the new Transworld video, Time to Shine. Check out the newest TWS video to see Brian’s sick section in the Australian am section. Danny Montoya also shines in Chad Tim Tim's part.

Listen Promo Video, now playing in your local skate shop. Go and check it out now. We have gotten some good feedback so far. Go check it out if you haven't already. If your shop doesn't have it, it’s also available for podcast at http://www.puzzlevideo.com/

The Benji Meyer video, Weekend Warriors is out now and it's amazing. Our flow rider Jamiel Nowparvar has a part in it and it's awesome. Get it now while it's hot. There's a review of this video in the new Slap and it gives props to this video.

The new 411 14.2 is also out now and available for purchase through us. I recommend you see this video. Jamiel has some tricks in the chaos section. So this is what you do. Buy the new 411 to get a sample of Jamiel if you haven't seen him skate before, then buy the Weekend Warriors and watch his full part after you see what you like in the 411.

Misc.

It’s that time of year again. Hot dogs and Hessians is back on and coming to a park near you in Southern California. Check www.activemailorder.com for locations and dates. We will be at all the ones that don't conflict with our own summer tour.

In case you guys didn't hear, Listen Skateboards was asked to do a collaboration board with Hip-Hop Artist, Lupe Fiasco. There was a limited amount made so I wouldn't be surprised if these things were going' for a lot on eBay.

And in more Listen developments, our new Summer Catalog is out!
